US citizen Matthew Todd Miller has been sentenced to six years hard labor for committing hostile acts while disguised as a tourist in the country. The White House has requested Miller_s immediate pardon and release. Miller is now the second American sent to work in a North Korean labor camp along with Kenneth Bae. A third US citizen Jeffrey Fowle is awaiting trial. The battle continues between firefighters and another raging wildfire in heatwave-stricken California. The Silverado Fire as it_s being called started Friday morning in the Cleveland National Forest located southeast of Los Angeles. The blaze has forced hundreds of people from their homes and has burned through more than 16-hundred acres of forest. More than one thousand firefighters are working around the clock to slow the fire_s progress. Officials say they_re at 20-percent containment and are confident that number will start rising quickly. Meanwhile further south in Mexico Hurricane Odile has made landfall in Baja California. Residents and tourists alike are seeking shelter as the Category three storm rolls through the area. Several flights to and from the peninsula have been cancelled and coastal areas are being evacuated. Mexican authorities have prepared shelters for as many as THIRTY thousand people.And a new Miss America has been crowned And for the THIRD year in a row Miss New York took home the title.
