Stay clasy, Cleveland Maria Sharapova_s ban from tennis will be over sooner than expected The five-time grand slam champ just had her drug suspension reduced from two years to fifteen months Sharapova was suspended for using a drug called Meldonium, which was added to the sport_s list of banned substances in January. Sharapova had been taking the over-the-counter drug for ten years, and says she simply didn_t know it was banned. In any case, it looks like she_ll be back on the court grunting and hollering in time for the French Open in May 2017. Yay. And we_ll say this about Pete Rose - he_s nothing if not persistent The disgraced ex-ballplayer has appealed to the Baseball Hall of Fame to be included on the ballot. Rose_s attorney submitted a 7-page document to Hall officials asking to have his eligibility restored. Rose would be a shoo-in for enshrinement in Cooperstown if he hadn_t been caught betting on baseball - and it didn_t help that he denied the accusations for YEARS afterwards.
