We_re beginning with a new matchup for you in our Naked Sports report For the first time EVER we_re going to double-team you with some of the biggest stories from the weekend Madison and Veronica have their game faces on and are ready to TAKE THE FIELD Thanks Nat and welcome inside the Naked Sports Report We_re starting with the latest from the NFL_s wild card weekendIn the leadup to the Giants-Packers tilt all the buzz in the Big Apple was about the photos of New York_s players partying on a yacht in Miami.It was a huge story on social media and the athletes promised their little trip wouldn_t impact their performance on Sunday... which wasn_t quite true was it Veronica? Turns out it WAS a big deal and totally mattered Star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was TERRIBLE and the Giants got blown away by Green Bay at Lambeau Field Things were close in the early going but the turning point came on a hail mary from Aaron Rodgers at the end of the half Unbelievable That was one of Rodgers_ FOUR touchdowns on the day and the Packers won in a rout 38 to 13. Seriously I don_t know how Rodgers does it with the hail marys. His passes always find the open manHe_s amazing. And if you haven_t seen any of the yacht memes on social media do yourself a favor and check them out. TOO funny Things were even more lopsided in the OTHER three games this weekend Steelers running back Le_Veon Bell had 167 yards rushing and two TD_s leading Pittsburgh to a 30 - 12 romp over Miami. But the big story came right at the end of the game when Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger hurt his ankle. He swears he_ll play next week but stay tuned And on Saturday night the Seattle Seahawks made mincemeat out of the Detroit Lions Seattle_s D smothered the Detroit offense and turned this one into a total snoozefest winning 26-6. And last but not least injuries forced the Oakland to start rookie QB Connor Cook in Houston and it went about as well as you_d expect The Raiders struggled to move the ball all game long and the Texans won a laugher 27-14. All-in-all it was the most lopsided slate of wildcard games since 1981 Madison.Okay not great but football fans have a LOT to look forward to next weekend including Kansas City against Pittsburgh and Green Bay at Dallas Can_t wait Let_s switch things up and cover a sport that doesn_t get a ton of love around here: women_s college basketball.We don_t talk about it too often but when we do it_s because something CRAZY happened Things got hardCORE on the hardcourt Saturday night during UNLV_s clash with Utah State Things got heated in the third quarter and then all hell broke loose The two players at the heart of the scrum WERE ejected for fighting and three more from each team were booted for leaving their bench and joining the brawl Both squads had to play shorthanded the rest of the way but UNLV got the last laugh. The Rebels won 55-53 in overtime Can_t wait to see THAT rematch Over in hockey the Dallas Stars got a BIG scare on their way home from St. Louis. A few minutes after takeoff their plane had to perform an emergency landing due to smoke in the cockpit Thankfully they were able to turn around and land safely in St. Louis but up in smoke IS a fitting metaphor for the Stars_ season thus far Soccer_s World Cup is getting bigger but probably not better FIFA_s announced plans to expand the tournament from 32 to 48 countries They_d be broken up into 3 groups of 16. Officials say the move will help the development of the sport around the world but critics think it will only dilute the quality of games. Let_s be honest Veronica: the REAL reason is money If the changes are approved FIFA_s looking at a profit hike of 640 million dollars When in doubt follow the money right?Exactly. And most of the new teams being added will come from Africa and Asia which everyone knows are typically the two weakest regions for soccer. Bigger isn_t ALWAYS better I say Last but not least here_s proof that the geeks shall inherit the Earth A million dollars was up for grabs this weekend in the Las Vegas eRace at CES 20 professional Formula E drivers took on 10 gamers in the biggest simulated street race ever held. In the end a gamer - and not a pro driver - came out on top Dutch e-Sports enthusiast Bono Huis took the 200-thousand dollar top prize and he looks like he_s barely old enough to drive Imagine that you spend your whole life grinding it out on race tracks around the world dreaming of making the pros.
